Judge as you want to be judged.

How is it fair that you are often judged by your religion (or lack off)? People often fail to realize that religion and a person of the faith are two separate entities. A kid is cursed and spit upon with the harshest words for his/her actions not so much because of the action itself, but because those actions are against his/her religious beliefs. We fail to see that our power to judge is limited to what is constituted in the law like murder, robbery, abuse etc. Who are we to judge personal decisions in life of others? A kid decides to lose his/her virginity at 14 and you scream blasphemy on him/her? Eternal hell awaits him/her? Who are we to call out such punishments against anyone? Someone decides to make his/her homosexual life public is a personal decision that does not affect your well being, so why discriminate? Why threaten them with death and suffering? The only thing we could do is talk to them rationally, with strong premises and argument. Argue why it is morally wrong (if it really is) from the side of logic and not bring in religious reasons as part of your premise, because using “God forbids it” only weakens the argument. If I ask you why I shouldn’t steal, and you answer with “God forbids it”, then doesn’t that make it a matter which only concerns me and Him? Who are you to judge then? But if you have went for rational reasoning and told me how stealing harms other people, that would have better convinced me. We are born with brains that are able to rationalize for a reason. I would also like to think that things that God forbids have rational reasons behind it. So don’t go straight to the conclusion, build your premises. Don’t threaten me with fiery hell, but instead, try to make me understand.

People need to understand that one should judge the person not on the basis of religion. Religion is too personal of a relationship that only involves you and God. Different people have different interpretation when it comes to faith, thus judging others through your own personal insight on the matter will only cause chaos. Judge his/her decision on the morality side of human kind, and not attack them by shoving God’s laws in their faces. Reason with them the way God wants us to reason with them. And if everything else fails, it is not because he/she lacked faith or his/her religion is not the right religion, but because he/she lacks rational thinking.
